ABOUT
Sophia is a visual artist and ecologist based in Naarm/Melbourne. She studied at the London School of Muralism, in partnership with Goldsmiths University in 2021, where she was trained in community outreach, safety management, design development and implementation. She has worked on ten murals, with a strong focus on community engagement in the design process. She has a BA degree in Geography from the University of Manchester. Her artistic practice tends to convey landscapes and local stories, bridging her experience in ecology, social geography, and public art. She pursues public art to enliven urbanised spaces and elicit curiosity, joy, and connection to the natural world.
Sophia currently runs low cost bookmaking workshops at Wood Streets Art Space with Hobsons Bay Council for adults and young people in the area. She has exhibited work at Laneway Gallery, Hobson’s Bay City Council, ACME Open Studios, London, and La Emisora Gallery, Mexico. Her mural commissions include Hobsons Bay City Council, Melbourne, Lewisham Council, London, Bayside Council, Sydney, Thamesmead Council, London. She has collaborated with various stakeholders including Transport for London, The Migration Museum, Friends of Chinbrook Meadows, and Solana De Granada Climbing Hostel.
